Keeping the Faith

It has been a few weeks since I last blogged--Sorry! I have just been compelled to write about something that has been in my daily thoughts. Many of you know about the tragedy that hit our community by storm. Four year old Jameer Woodley was struck and killed by a bus at the school that I teach at. This tragedy has impacted my life, not only the community. Jameer's family is dealing with a lot. Not only have they lost Jameer but also another son, T.J. How does a family get through something like this--not once, but twice? What do you say to someone to comfort them? I didn't know what to do or say. Here is something that came to mind:
Psalms 71: 20-21
"Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again."
When Larry and I lost Carter, I read this over and over. It made me realize that I could get through this. All of us go through tragedies at some point in our lives. We must have faith that our Lord will get us through. We are constantly being tested and we must keep the faith.
